Dax Shepard credits Kristen Bell with turning him on to a new, healthier lifestyle that includes a vegan diet. The end result? He feels so much better.

Dax Shepard talks to PlayboyParenthood star Dax Shepard is a manly vegan — and he's talking all about it in the new issue of Playboy. The fiancé of fellow animal lover Kristen Bell tells the magazine's 20Q that the diet just makes him feel good.

"It's nothing like the pill in The Matrix but damn good, like 15 percent across the board in every respect," he said. "I sleep 15 percent better. My allergies are at least 15 percent better. I have fewer body aches. My skin looks better. I'm never starving, and I never need to ride the couch feeling completely full and disgusting."

Shepard and Bell decided — as a couple — to take all animal products out of their diets earlier this year after watching the documentary Forks Over Knives.

"It's more about the health benefits than the ethics. But it’s compounded by the fact that I love animals and feel better not eating them," Bell told Women's Health.

The pair hasn't had difficulty creating vegan dishes, especially since they both like to cook.

"I’m a fan of multicourse dinners," Bell told Self earlier this year. "Last night, I made Brussels sprouts baked with balsamic vinegar, grapes and walnuts; butternut squash ravioli; and a 'garbage disposal' salad, which is everything in the veggie and fruit drawers: Lentils, spinach, romaine, blueberries, cucumbers, raspberries, almonds, carrots and avocado. Literally anything. You don’t even need a dressing because there are so many tastes.”

The downside? It's all "fart powder," meaning it makes them gassy. Sounds like a tradeoff they're willing to make.

Could these two get any more adorable? Shepard doesn't shy away from complimenting his lady love in the Playboy interview, either.

"Kristen's a good girl. She grew up very Christian, went straight to college, did great in school and started work immediately. She's charitable and philanthropic and rescues dogs. So when we met, our backgrounds were opposites," he said, referring to his past as an addict, alcoholic and cheater. "All the things I'd done were terrifying to her, and she had a hard time believing I would ever be able to stay married and monogamous and a father and all those things. For the first year and a half we were together that was what we battled over almost weekly."

So, Bell basically saved him. He's obviously thankful — and he says he knows that other guys look down on him for having such a hot other half.

"Guys should be excited that I got Kristen Bell," he said. "If Brad Pitt gets Kristen Bell, it's like, 'Well, of course he did.' With me, it should be, 'Oh good, a normal-looking guy got her. Maybe I'll get me a Kristen Bell.' But guys hate my guts for always dating women I have no right to be with."
